If you would rather not be challenged by a border crossing at the busiest border crossing in the world, the San Diego Railroad Museum offers trips from their Campo Museum facility to Tecate monthly in cooperation with Carrizo Gorge de México. Campo is 60 miles east of San Diego on Highway 94 or east on Interstate 8 to Buckman Springs Road south to Campo. Also at Campo is a fascinating museum of motor vehicles in the old feldspar processing plant as well as the Stone Store which depicts the civil and military history of Campo and Camp Locket, home of the Buffalo Soldiers, those Afro-Americans who served their nation during an oppressive period of the nation’s history.
