Transiting the Border

No special tourist card is required for this Tijuana – Tecate rail adventure. Non-U.S. nationals should, however, be sure their visa allows them to return to the United States through a multiple entry visa. The Tijuana Depot is a five block walk from the pedestrian crossing into Tijuana at San Ysidro. Group tours will most probably arrived by bus to the Depot. Yellow cabs are also available for the trip for those less adventurous. Distinctly dressed Railroad Guides will be located at the turnstile exits of the pedestrian between 8 and 9:15am the morning of the trip to assist those crossing on foot. Those returning via train to Tijuana and crossing at the San Ysidro Port of Entry should expect up to a 2 hour wait. Returning by bus from Tecate offers a quicker crossing via the Otay Port of Entry. There is no parking at the Depot, so take advantage of the parking areas adjacent to the Depot.
